The religion Islam has accorded great significance to humanity. There appears a clear picture of mankind in the whole life of our beloved Prophet (PBUH). To achieve this ultimate goal to help suffering humanity, Imarat Shariah has established a hospital in name of its founder Hazrat Maulana Abul Muhasin Mohd. Sajjad,
In 1988 M.S.M. Hospital had a humble start by the efforts of the well known philanthropist body of Imarat Shariah Bihar, Jharkhand & Orissa, Phulwari Sharif, Patna. The object is to provide day to day medical services to the locality which comprised of the poor and down trodden who were obliged to neglect their malaise because of shortage of money.
By the sincere efforts of the management and the staff, the Hospital gained popularity day to day so much so that new services were introduced and Imarat Shariah handed over the management to newly formed Imarat Shariah Educational & Welfare Trust in 1993.
On the very inception this hospital has been involved in social activities i.e. Medical Check-up, Cancer Awareness, Tuberculosis Detection & Free Treatment, Free Eye Operation Camps, Immunization, Epidemic and Prevention Control Program, Free Health Check-up programs etc. The three storied building of the hospital is situated in the Imarat campus. It was started with the General O.P.D only; however a Maternity Home and Pathological Lab were added on 20th Oct, 91. It did great help to the suffering lot of Phulwari Sharif and its nearby areas. As a matter of fact, there is lack of Sharyee Parda in the govt. and as a result of which Muslim women do suffer a lot especially during pregnancy. Imarat felt this at most need and established the department of gynecology in which the lady doctors render their services with due parda. Labor room is opened for 24 hours. There are separate arrangements for X-Ray plant, operation theatre, facilities of children's immunization and circumcision etc. Three ambulances are all time ready to provide quick relief in emergency cases.
The department of Eye has been set-up on 10th Oct., 92. About 1900 patients were successfully treated in just one year of its establishment. The process of Eye-Relief Camps was started in 1983. This process of organizing camps has been still continuing. Free lens, blankets and food are being provided to thousands of patients in these camps.
With the efforts of Imarat and support of the then Bihar governor Dr. A.R. Kidwai, Indian Red Cross society has set-up its sub-branch in Imarat Shariah in the year 1995, where T B patients are examined and treated on every Thursday. Free medicines are also given here.
Alhamdolillah thousands and thousands of patients from all communities are being regularly benefited through Imarat hospitals. May Almighty Allah encourage our brothers to set up many more such hospitals for providing relief to the Ummah in the years to come (Amin).
In pursuance of our welfare scheme, the Trust has established this year (2003) a health care centre in Mohalla Azad Nagar, Jamshedpur which is heavily populated by the Muslim Minority community incapable of bearing the burden of costly present day treatment.
We express our thanks and gratitude to Mohtarma Zaibun Nisa and her sons who were kind enough to donate their well-constructed building for the establishment of this health care. At present only two outdoors are in operation manned by one male & one female doctor but in appreciation of our humanitarian efforts by the well off generous brother of our community has of course encouraged us to develop this centre further more by starting a maternity home having facilities of labor room, operation theatre and other required tools. Like in Patna, this health care centre patients are examined on minimum registration charges of Rs. 10/- and as per need, free medicines are also supplied to the poor. We have resolved to develop this health care centre into a fully fledged hospital having Surgical, E.N.T., Orthopedic departments equipping it with X-ray, Ultrasound and Pathological Dept. along with providing 50 beds for the indoor patients. We hope, Insha Allah our dream will soon come true of course with the help of our benevolent and generous brothers.
On the very inception this hospital has been involved in social activities described as follows:
1. Medical Checkup, Cancer detection & Awareness Camps: - We arrange Medical Camps free of cost along with Cancer Detection & Awareness camps at different places of Bihar. We have specially arranged two big such camps in the last two years in addition to our permanent and regular endeavours in this regard in our hospital.
2. Eye Operation Camp: - Every year Eye Camps are arranged where free cataract operations are conducted for poor & destitute. We have been doing this for the last several years. In every camp we operate 60 to 80 patients and they are served with free medicines meals and blankets. Till now, 543 operations have been performed successfully.
3. Immunization: - This program is being run successfully under the supervision of the Red Cross Society of India. Altogether 19,554 babies have been immunized so far.
4. DOT Program for T.B.:- This program is sponsored by W.H.O. The patients of the locality are provided free diagnostic investigations and medicine. One hundred seventy five patients have so far been cured of the malaise and the rest are getting free treatment. The hospital has been acclaimed among the best even by the officials of the Govt.
5. Epidemic and Prevention Control Program: - To face natural or man-made calamity we respond to the call of suffering humanity. We send our medical team on the spot to provide medical relief to riot, fire, the victims of draught, flood road accident, and any other epidemics. We organize camps there as per the need.
6. Free Health Checkup Program: - In rural areas as well occasionally, we arrange free medical checkup camps and thousands of men & women have benefited.
